These Terms & Conditions (“Agreement”) are entered into by and between the retreat organizer Soleful Journeys, LLC (DBA The Literary Escape), a corporation organized under the laws of Missouri with its principal place of business at Oak Pass Lane, Sullivan, MO 63080 USA (“Organizer,” “we,” “our”), and you, the retreat participant (“Guest,” “you,” “your”).

By purchasing a ticket to a The Literary Escape retreat, you affirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following:

Quick Summary

By purchasing a retreat ticket, you agree to:

  • Receive only the inclusions explicitly listed on the retreat’s sales page at the time of your purchase.

  • Abide by the cancellation and refund policies.

  • Assume all risks associated with attending the retreat.

  • Release The Literary Escape/Soleful Journeys, LLC from liability.

  • Follow all participant conduct rules and local laws.

Confirmation & Registration

Registration is complete upon successful payment through our designated platform. You will receive a confirmation email with registration details. Additional information (such as dietary or room preferences) may be requested post-registration. All updates, including itinerary and location information, will be shared in advance but remain subject to change.

Booking and Payment

  • Registration for the retreat is confirmed upon receipt of deposit.

  • Deposits are non-refundable.

  • Final payment must be made by the specified deadline to fully secure your place at the retreat.

  • We accept payment via most major credit cards and many other secure payment platforms.

  • All payments shall be made in U.S. Dollars (USD). Payments made in any other currency may be subject to currency conversion fees.

Cancellations, Transfers & Refunds

60+ Days Before the Retreat Start Date:

  • We will attempt to resell your ticket to our community.

    • If resold: You receive a refund minus a $199 processing fee.

    • If not resold: You will not be eligible for a any refund.

Less Than 60 Days Before the Retreat:

  • No refunds, transfers, or resales are permitted for cancellations within this window.

  • This includes illness, travel issues, or personal emergencies.

Deposits:

  • Deposits are partially refundable (50%) if canceled more than 60 days in advance and the ticket is not resold.

  • Deposits are non-refundable if canceled within 60 days of the retreat.

What’s Included & Subject to Change

Only items clearly listed on the sales page at the time of purchase are included. All other expenses (e.g., airfare, additional meals, tips, excursions not specified) are your responsibility.

We reserve the right to modify the itinerary, activities, or lodging due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, partner availability, safety).

Assumption of Risk

You voluntarily assume all risks associated with travel and participation, including:

  • Physical injuries (e.g., from excursions or activities)

  • Travel disruptions (e.g., delays, missed flights)

  • Health risks (including but not limited to COVID-19)

  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal property

Liability Waiver

You release and hold harmless The Literary Escape / Soleful Journeys, LLC, its employees, contractors, and partners from any claims, liabilities, or damages incurred during your participation.

This waiver includes third-party vendors (e.g., transportation providers, hotels, local guides).

Travel Documentation

You are solely responsible for securing valid travel documents. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months past the retreat’s end date. No refunds will be issued for inability to travel due to missing or invalid documents.

Travel Insurance

You are strongly encouraged to purchase comprehensive travel insurance, including trip cancellation and emergency medical coverage. We are not liable for any financial loss due to lack of coverage.

Media Release

By attending, you grant The Literary Escape permission to capture and use photos, videos, or other media featuring you for marketing and promotional purposes. Personal contact information will not be shared.

Conduct & Prohibited Behavior

All guests agree to:

  • Refrain from harassing, threatening, or harming others.

  • Abide by local laws, regulations, and retreat rules.

  • Not resell or transfer tickets without our written consent.

Violation of these terms may result in removal from the retreat without refund.

Organizer Cancellations

Soleful Journeys, LLC reserves the right to cancel any retreat due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to low enrollment, natural disasters, or health-related concerns. In such cases, guests will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a refund for amounts paid, minus any non-recoverable costs incurred by the Organizer.

Intellectual Property

All materials provided during the retreat—including presentations, workbooks, videos, and images—are the intellectual property of Soleful Journeys, LLC (DBA The Literary Escape) and may not be reproduced, distributed, or shared without prior written consent.

Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of Missouri, USA.

Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Missouri, unless prohibited by your state of residence.

Severability

If any part of this Agreement is deemed unenforceable, the rest shall remain in full effect.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The version applicable to your ticket purchase is the one in effect at the time of purchase.
